Elvis Aron Presley was born January 8th 1935 to Gladys & Vernon Presley in Tupelo Mississippi. He had a twin brother named Jesse Garon Presley who died at birth. Gladys died when he was young. ![]() When Elvis was growing up, he learned to sing in church, and was always considered a "Mama's boy" or "pretty boy" because of his long hair and good looks. For this reason, he was beaten up many times until one day some friends stood up for him during a fight in the bathroom. The men went on to later become his bodyguards and were known as the Memphis Mafia. He graduated high school in 1953 and became a truck driver.. ![]() Elvis began his career as a rock and roll star when he was a mere 19 years old. He made his first commercial recording in 1954 under his manager, Colonel Thomas A. Parker. The song he recorded was "That's All Right, Mama," mixing country-western and rock & roll, which began his career. From there Elvis made many other recordings including the classic hits, "Heartbreak Hotel," "Hound Dog," "Don't Be Cruel," "Love Me Tender," and "All Shook Up." By the mid-1950's Elvis Presley was already being called the "King of Rock and Roll" and is now one of the greatest figures in rock and roll history to have ever lived. ![]() ![]() Gladys, Elvis's beloved mother dies at the age of 46 on August 14th 1958. ![]() Pricilla meets Elvis while stationed in Germany in November of 1959. ![]() On March 5th 1960 Elvis was discharged from the Army . ![]() On May 1, 1967 Elvis and Pricilla were married at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas. ![]() On February 1st 1968 Lisa Marie Presley was born. ![]() Elvis and Pricilla were divorced on October 9th 1973. ![]() Elvis's last concert was in Indianoplis Indiana on June 26th 1977. ![]() Elvis dies at Graceland on August 16th 1977 . He is buried in Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee.
